Technical Intern Trainee Acceptance Report – Completion of a Dedicated Kitchen for Trainees –

This is a report from the staff members of “Hiyoshidai,” a long-term care welfare facility operated by the social welfare corporation 山口向陽会.

At our facility, technical intern trainees from Indonesia are currently living and learning on-site each day while gaining practical experience in caregiving. One of the values our staff considers especially important is “creating an environment where trainees can live safely and comfortably.”

Recently, a dedicated kitchen facility for the technical intern trainees was completed within our staff dormitory.

By utilizing a spacious shared floor that had originally been prepared for the trainees, our facility carried out plumbing and hot-water system installation work and newly introduced a full-scale system kitchen capable of supporting everyday cooking needs.

The newly installed kitchen features ample storage space, and the IH cooking stove allows three burners to be used simultaneously. The sink area has also been designed with a spacious layout, creating a bright and user-friendly environment.

In addition, important cautionary notices are displayed in Indonesian so that the trainees can use the facilities safely and with peace of mind.

This construction project was supervised and carried out by staff members of Shimizu Corporation, one of Japan’s leading construction companies, with careful consideration given to both safety and ease of use.

After completion of the project, an instructional session on how to use the kitchen facilities was held for the trainees and their supervising staff members. Using the actual equipment, the staff of Shimizu Corporation provided thorough explanations on important daily-use topics such as operating the IH cooking heater, handling hot water safely, and cleaning the drainage system.

Furthermore, the shared floor has also been arranged as a comfortable and relaxing space where everyone can spend time together, complete with sofas, a television, and other furnishings.

In today’s Japanese caregiving industry, labor shortages have become a major issue. Under such circumstances, it is increasingly important not only to secure young workers, but also to “carefully nurture and support the young staff members who choose to work with us.”

To achieve this, it is essential to focus not only on the working environment itself, but also on “the living environment of the staff members.”

In particular, having a space where trainees can prepare familiar meals with their own hands is expected to greatly contribute to their sense of comfort and emotional stability while living far from their home country.

At Hiyoshidai, we believe that supporting the “quality of life of our staff members” throughout the entire facility forms the foundation that allows technical intern trainees to learn with confidence and fully demonstrate their abilities.

Based on this belief, we will continue to steadily improve and maintain our living and working environment.

We sincerely hope that these ongoing efforts will ultimately lead to the continued provision of high-quality caregiving services for all of our residents and service users.
